Want to expand your Instagram audience?

Collaborating with another business on a Reel that’s in or related to your business is a surefire way to discover your Ideal Client in new places and get more eyes on your account.

Okay–but how

How to Pitch a Reel Collaboration

>>A Reel collaboration is basically like eating at a restaurant, seeing someone you know at the table next to yours, and then inviting them to join you.<<

You all showed up at the restaurant for different reasons and don’t all know each other, but you extend the table and spark conversation. Some may remain strangers, but who knows, you just might make some new friends.

Imagine the possibilities of what this could look like for and in your business.

You’ve been following an account that’s related to your industry or the work you do and think you’d benefit from helping each other out. How do you invite them and their audience over to the metaphorical dinner table?

Listen, I get it. Reaching out to someone you don’t know and asking them to collaborate with you can be intimidating and nerve-wracking. (Heck–even when you DO know them, it can be stressful!)

Stick with me though, because pitching a Reel collaboration can actually be a whole lot easier than you may think when you follow the strategy I’m about to share.

Even if 99% of the people you ask to collaborate with decline your invitation, it’s okay because you’ll still come out ahead!

Let me explain…

First, start by creating a Reel highlighting the value of THEIR business from your perspective.

Let’s take a look at a few examples to see how easy this could be:

A Coffee Shop

Go to their Coffee Shop and create a Reel showcasing their featured menu and pet-friendly patio.

A Yoga Studio

Take a class at their Yoga Studio and create a Reel highlighting your experience.

A Clothing Boutique

Browse their Instagram Shop and create a Reel of you excitedly adding items to your cart.

A Business Coach

Scroll their website and create a Reel talking about the services they offer that you need or can’t wait to try.

Once you’ve created the Reel, invite them to collaborate when you post it!

To do this, simply:

➡ Tap ‘Tag People,’

➡ Click ‘Invite Collaborator,’ then

➡ Select who you want to collaborate with.

They may or may not accept your invitation to collaborate (and that’s OKAY!), but either way, you’ve just created content that adds value and showcases who you are, how you work, and what you can do for future collaborations.

In other words:

>>This is how your WORK can sell your PITCH.<<

Feeling stuck with your content creation?

It’s no secret that creating and incorporating Reels into your marketing strategy is necessary, but what if you have no idea what to create?

You’re not alone! Whether you’ve never created a Reel in your life, have filmed a handful, or you’ve been filming Reels for a while now, sometimes you just run out of ideas and need a spark of inspiration to keep creating. The good news is, I got you covered.

Here are two easy and engagement-boosting Reels you can create today!

Two Easy Reels Prompts You Can Use Today

Reel Prompt #1: I Spy Edition

Choose something in your workspace that you’d like to showcase for fun or promote for your biz (e.g. your cat taking a nap on your keyboard, a new product on the shelf behind you, etc.).

Then… Record yourself in your workspace either:

 • Wearing and peeking over a pair of sunglasses or shifting your eyes back and forth suspiciously.
 • Customize this caption template as a voiceover script:

Let’s play I Spy… __________ [home office/new product alert/etc.] edition! I spy with my little eye something that is __________ [furry/red/etc.]. Got any guesses? Drop them below and I’ll announce the winner __________ [tomorrow/in my Stories/etc.]

Reel Prompt #2: Awesome Audio Edition

Follow the steps below:

 1. Choose one of the audio options below

Option 1: Beyonce’s Summer Renaissance

Option 2: The Door Knock

 1. Customize the caption provided, and then
 2. Pick the Reel Prompt that’s right for your business (product or service-based)
 3. Customize this caption:

Want to hear something super awesome?! I HAVE to tell you about __________ [great feature of your product or service that strongly benefits your clients/customers]. I told you it was awesome! Now, tell ME what I can do to make it even better for YOU!

Pick the Reel Prompt that’s right for your business

Product-Based Businesses:

Option 1: Record a closeup of a product you’d like to feature and include text that shares 1-3 benefits.

Option 2: Record yourself knocking on a door and then answering the door to find the product you’re featuring to be waiting for you, along with text describing a benefit it offers your customers.

Service-Based Businesses:

Option 1: Record a closeup of an encouraging phrase or quote that would resonate with your Ideal Client.

Option 2: Record yourself knocking on a door in one outfit and then answering the door to in a different outfit along with text describing a benefit of your service. (Pro tip: keep it simple by throwing on a jacket or changing only your shirt!)

Pro Tip: Keep it simple by using the scripts above as your caption. Time to press record!

Seriously… just press record. It doesn’t have to be perfect (in fact, your followers will likely relate and engage with your Reel when it’s not).

And remember: the more content you create the easier and more efficient the process will get. It’s time to stop overthinking it and just start.

How to Close Sales in Direct Messages https://jasminestar.com/how-to-close-sales-in-dms/ Wed, 07 Sep 2022 14:14:00 +0000 https://jasminestar.com/?p=30378 Hearing crickets after sending DMs to your dream customer? Follow these 5 tips to grow your sales and increase your engagement.

The post How to Close Sales in Direct Messages appeared first on Jasmine Star.

]]>
Does this ever happen to you?

A prospective client or customer sends you a DM to learn more about what you offer. You respond back (right away!) with all the details.

And then… crickets.

You never hear from them again.

If you’re nodding your head, you’re not alone… in fact, inside the Social Curator Community, I recently shared top tips for exactly what to do to say goodbye to those crickets and hello to sales instead.

Here’s the Cliff Notes version:

How to Close Sales in Direct Messages

Step 1: Add a clear call to action to your DM response.

Share the details and invite the follower to book a session, reply with questions, purchase a special bundle, etc.

Step 2: Set a reminder to follow up 24-48 hours later.

Simply reply back and ask if they have any questions!

Step 3: Ask a question.

Share interest in the person who DM’d you and get to know them a bit more. If you’re a microblading business, ask if they’ve had microblading done before. If you sell handmade soaps, ask about their favorite scents. Building relationships is KEY to closing sales.

Step 4: Give engagement.

After you respond to the prospective client or customer, go to their account and like a recent post, comment on a story, etc. Show that you genuinely care about them!

Step 5: Link to a demo of your product or service in your DM.

This doesn’t have to be fancy – it could even be a before and after Reel you’ve made in the past. Just show them a bit more about what you offer!

Want to start implementing these steps in your DMs this week? If you’re not yet getting DMs from interested followers, you can start by sending relationship-building DMs to anyone who likes one of your posts.

Here’s a template to use:

Hey [first name]! Thanks so much for __________ [liking my recent post/commenting on my latest Reel/etc.]. __________ [Engaging question (Did you like my dog’s cameo at the end?). I appreciate you for being here! Please let me know if you have any questions about __________ [what I do/how we can serve you/etc.].

Want more tips on how to increase engagement and sales and work smarter, not harder, in your business? Social Curator has you covered.

Instagram’s Constant Changes: How to Keep Up https://jasminestar.com/how-to-keep-up-with-instagram/ Wed, 10 Aug 2022 14:59:00 +0000 https://jasminestar.com/?p=30323 If you’re tired, overwhelmed, and frustrated by how Instagram has been changing and wondering when enough is enough… I have news for you:

The post Instagram’s Constant Changes: How to Keep Up appeared first on Jasmine Star.

]]>
Are you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by the constant updates and changes Instagram has been rolling out recently?

When it comes to your business, and let’s be real–life in general–you have enough plates “balancing” in the air already, am I right?!

I get it. Keeping up with Instagram’s constant changes is not something you want to add to your endless to-do list.

If you can relate, you’re in the right place because I had the opportunity to have a conversation about this Live on Facebook. So, let’s chat about this hot topic!

Keeping Up With Instagram's Changes

First and foremost, know this: Everything is a choice in business.

>>You get to accept or not accept what you want to do in your business.<<

YOU are always in control. Nobody is:

 • Forcing you,
 • Mandating you, or
 • Holding your nose to the ground without you having an active choice.

YOU must stay in power and control. You must accept that you are in a place of decision.

YOU are deciding to be on Instagram (or any other social media platform) or not to be.

If you’re tired, overwhelmed, and frustrated by how Instagram has been changing and wondering when enough is enough… I have news for you:

>>Instagram is and always will be in the game of “changing.”<<

In fact, I recently heard on a podcast that the fastest-growing businesses are filled with people who activate change.

Because change is growth.

Change is:

 • Leading
 • Innovation
 • Acquisition

Instagram is one of the fastest growing businesses of–wait for it–ALL TIME! In all human history.

Guess what? They’re in the game of changing. Period.

You have a choice. You must ask yourself, “Do I want to change with Instagram or not?”

If you say, “I don’t want to be on Instagram anymore.” Good for you! Go right ahead. It’s YOUR decision and you’re going to find a path better for you to continue marketing your business.

But if you decide, “I am going to be on Instagram.”

Then you must:

 1. Accept the decision you made,
 2. Commit to studying and keeping up with Instagram’s changes, and
 3. Continue to innovate for your business.

>>The fastest growing businesses change, and so must you.<<

Once you’ve made the courageous decision to grow in the same capacity, you’re going to change right alongside them. Can I get an, “Amen?!”

This doesn’t mean you’re boarding the Instagram train. I’m not saying that at all. What I am saying is this…

Can I get an, “Amen!” to you agreeing to YOUR terms and then saying, “I will take action on my decision.”

Amen or AMEN?!

I truly believe change is everything.

>>Change is growth. Change is Innovation. Change is the next best thing for your business.<<

It’s up to YOU to decide if you agree or disagree and take action based on your decision.

Embrace change on YOUR terms. No other person, business, or platform’s terms.

Learn one of the easiest and most effective ways of staying ahead of change while saving valuable time marketing your business at my upcoming free masterclass: How to Create a 7-Day Content Plan in 30 Minutes!

How to Stop the Business Comparison Game https://jasminestar.com/the-business-comparison-game/ Fri, 05 Aug 2022 14:37:00 +0000 https://jasminestar.com/?p=30314 Stop drinking the poison that’s leaving you and your business feeling sick, defeated, and unmotivated. Here's how...

The post How to Stop the Business Comparison Game appeared first on Jasmine Star.

]]>
“Comparison is the thief of joy.”

At my lowest points in my life and in my business, I have been the saddest when I’ve compared my business progress, myself, or anything in my life to somebody else. Can you relate?

If you’re wondering how to stop that destructive and defeating pattern… let’s have a conversation.

First, you must analyze and assess how you are seeing what people are putting out. In fact, let me share a personal example of this.

How to Stop the Business Comparison Game

Last week I decided to break a little bit of my social media patterns. What did this look like?

Well, I was still showing up for my business. I was still posting Stories, posts in my feed, answering DM’s, and I was still going Live, but… I wasn’t scrolling.

I know… easier said than done, right?

When I got on social media, I made a point to go solely as a business owner. I wasn’t going on social media to consume. I created, but I did zero consumption

I wasn’t scrolling on Stories, feeds, or watching Reels. For one whole week, all I did was put my post out, and then I walked away.

Let me tell you, it was such a good break!

Now, I’m back in consumption and catching up on all the things, but the difference is that I’m in a better headspace than before.

Here’s my [Loving] kick in the pants for you:

>>If you want to stop comparing yourself to other people, Influencers, or businesses because it leaves you feeling like you’re not doing or good enough, you need to stop consuming their content.<<

Think of it this way: You feel sick, but you keep drinking the poison and then wonder why you still feel sick.

Friend, stop drinking the poison that’s leaving you and your business feeling sick, defeated, and unmotivated.

My advice is not that deep, but I promise you it’s effective. Figure out what poison is making you feel sick, and stop consuming it.

*Yes, it’s really that simple!*

I know what you may be thinking: “But Jasmine, I have to. It’s part of my business. I have to go to social media.”

Okay, but do you have to consume the way you currently are? Can you just create and ONLY engage with what’s within your profile? Perhaps not all the time, but any time you need a detox?

If you can do that, I know it will benefit your mindset and your business. And that, my friend, is a game-changer.

In fact, I believe everything you need to not only help you build a stronger mindset but to master a 6-Figure Social Media Mindset is in this month’s marketing action plan inside Social Curator.

You’ll learn how to:

 • Self Audit: Discover what’s really holding you back.
 • Flip the script: Focus on the facts, not your feelings.
 • Follow the plan: Take action and transform your business

When you follow these steps consistently, you’ll develop the grit, guts, and tenacity required to not only build a business… but to build and scale a successful, 6-figure business!

How to Gain Trust with a Small Audience https://jasminestar.com/how-to-gain-trust-with-a-small-audience/ Mon, 01 Aug 2022 14:16:00 +0000 https://jasminestar.com/?p=30307 If you don’t have a large audience and people aren’t buying from you, guess what? I’ve got GREAT news for you.

The post How to Gain Trust with a Small Audience appeared first on Jasmine Star.

]]>
Lean in close… Everyone has been new at some point in one way or another. It’s not just you.

Every professional was, at one point, an amateur.

If we know that to be true, then we have to also say that there has been somebody–exactly like YOU–who has gone before you.

Someone has gone before you with your amount of:

 • Experience (or lack thereof),
 • Knowledge (or lack thereof),
 • Background (or lack thereof)…

You name it; someone else has likely experienced it and helped pave the way for YOU to do the same.

How to Gain Trust with a Small Audience

Here’s the beauty of what this means:

>>Someone else has proven that what you want IS possible.<<

Can I get a “YES and AMEN?!”

If you don’t have a large audience and people aren’t buying from you, guess what? I’ve got GREAT news for you.

The methodology that I have used to position myself as an authority, industry expert, and somebody who actively gets sales on the back of social media, are the same principles I used when :

 • 10 people were following,
 • 10,000 people were following, and I’ll most likely be doing the same thing if
 • 10 million people are following me.

Whether you want to position yourself as an authority or get sales on social media with a small following, guess what? The methodology is the same.

You position yourself as an authority, and you build your personal brand, which ultimately leads to more sales for your business. How?

When people know, like, and trust you, they begin to say,

“Wow. I know that I could buy what you sell (essential oils, birthday cakes, website templates, etc.) from somebody else, but I really YOUR business because of the value I’ve received from you.”

*Unpopular Opinion Alert* Social media is not for sales.

>>Social media is the pathway to a sale.<<

Here’s the truth: It’s so rare to make a sale by simply asking your followers to “Buy my thing.”

It doesn’t work that way. Instead, use your social media platforms in relation to your business to highlight what your business does. Share:

 • Thoughtful,
 • Engaging, and
 • Educational content.

When you do that, your followers (no matter how many you have) will begin to know, like, and trust you, which ultimately leads to the sales you’re thirsty for.

Perhaps you sell one-of-a-kind scrunchies made from fabric scraps. You could create content asking your followers to simply “buy them” OR you could create content that teaches how to do a “really cool messy bun” with–you guessed it–your scrunchies!

See the difference? Consider your own buying habits. I’m going to bet the people and businesses you buy from typically use the same kind of methodology.

>>Once your followers consume your content and grow to know, like, and trust you, they’ll buy from you.<<

When you empower, engage, and entertain your audience, you’re essentially becoming a content purveyor of your business. Long story short: you’re a content creator.

Now I know that may not appeal to you because you want to be an entrepreneur, not a “content creator,” but hear me out. The content you create can serve if you don’t have finances.

I’ve shared my story a thousand times over, but here’s a quick recap:

 • I’m the daughter of an immigrant.
 • I have bootstrapped every company I own.
 • I have paid for everything in cash.
 • I have never taken a business loan or borrowed money.
 • I don’t have equity or stakeholders.

People are always asking me how I built a successful business.

>>I did it on the back of creating content on social media, and YOU can too!<<

Do I think everybody needs to create content? No.

If you can pay for ads, have a whole strategy team, invest in getting featured in outlets, or afford to pay an Influencer to talk about your business or product. You’re in great shape, do it.

But since you’re here, I’m gonna guess that strategy isn’t possible for you yet.

Here’s what you need to do instead:

>>Take what you have and make it WERK.<<

For me, content has always been the Swiss Army knife of marketing my business. It is something you can use in multiple ways that will benefit your business.

I get it. Making content is not easy. It can feel hard, frustrating, and often overwhelming. But don’t worry because I got you covered.

How to Use the Instagram Reels Template Feature https://jasminestar.com/how-to-use-the-instagram-reels-template-feature/ Wed, 29 Jun 2022 14:53:00 +0000 https://jasminestar.com/?p=30188 Creating Reels just got a whole lot EASIER and I can’t WAIT to show you how!

Be honest… Do you despise Reels?!

I’ve made the commitment to create Reels that involve dancing and having fun (despite the strangers on the internet who hate it… and despite my mother’s disdain) because I’m exploring.

I’m forcing myself to get curious, experimenting with how this marketing tool will help my business, and having fun along the way… even if they feel awkward-as-all-get-out when dancing alone in my office!

But I’m disciplining my marketing efforts, regardless of how I feel when people make jokes about my smooth-like-butter dance moves.

(Okay, smooth like FROZEN butter. But, still. Butter nonetheless.)

I can choose to be embarrassed and let someone else’s opinion stop my curiosity, exploration and (let’s be real) gritty hustle… or I can choose to play the music so loud it drowns out their opinions.

Yes, it may be time-consuming to learn and experiment with this tool… but the good news is that creating Reels just got a whole lot EASIER with Instagram’s release of Reels Templates, and I can’t WAIT to show you how to use them for your business.

How to Use the Instagram Reels Template

>>Reels Templates are a game-changing feature that allows you to use the timing from another Reel to create your own.<<

This means it will save you a ton of time and effort when participating in a trend, because you won’t have to manually adjust your video clips to sync with the audio track you selected!

Keep reading, ‘cause I’m about to spill the tea on where to find them, how to use them, and how to create your own.

Where to Find Reels Templates

Finding Reels Templates is easy. When scrolling through your Reels Feed (by clicking the middle “play” button on the bottom of the app), search for Reels with the “Use Template” button over their Instagram handle. These are Reels available to use as a Template!

If you don’t have the Reels Template feature yet, be sure your Instagram app is kept up to date, and keep an eye out for this button in the future!

How to Use a Reel Template

 • To use someone else’s Reel Template, simply:
 • Tap “Use Template” on the Reel Template (above their Instagram handle). This opens a new page.
 • Tap “Add Media” under the template to replace their clips with your own in your camera roll.
 • Once all of your clips are added, tap “Next” to generate your Reel.
 • If you’d like to change the section of your clips that is shown in each timing, simply tap on the clip you’d like to adjust and drag the white box where you’d like it to play, then tap “Done.”
 • Once satisfied with your edits, tap “Next” to add filters, stickers, and text to your Reel.
 • When finished, tap “Next” to write a caption and add a cover photo, followed by the “Share” button to share it to your feed.

How to Create Your Own Reel Template

This is an easy one: to create your own Reel Template, simply create your own Reel and edit it within Instagram! When you do, it will automatically be available for others to use as a template. How cool is that?

Even if you previously used someone else’s Reel Template to create it, all Instagram Reels will become templates for others to use, as long as they were edited within the app!

If you use a third-party app like inShot, iMovie, or Adobe to edit your Reels, they will not be eligible for Reels Templates because Instagram does not have the ability to read the timings of each clip.

There you have it, friend: how to use the Reels Template feature for your business!
