The Art of Intentional Networking: My 3-Part Framework

Let’s be real: building relationships in business can feel awkward, overwhelming, or straight-up confusing. How do you connect with someone you admire without coming off too strong? How do you stay connected without it feeling forced? And how the heck do you build a network that actually supports your goals and feels authentic?

Welcome to the club, friend. I’ve wrestled with these questions too, and in this episode of The Jasmine Star Show, I’m peeling back the curtain on how I’ve intentionally built relationships that have opened doors, created deeper friendships, and grown my business in the process.

I’m sharing the three-part framework I personally use to nurture and expand my network—and spoiler alert: it doesn’t involve cheesy DMs or awkward small talk.

Here’s the breakdown:

Step 1: Ask Where People Live

This might sound simple, but it’s so powerful. Knowing where someone lives gives you the opportunity to:

  • Plan in-person connections when you're in town
  • Make local recommendations
  • Send thoughtful surprise-and-delight gifts (like a facial at a local spa!) I share how I did this with powerhouse entrepreneurs like Cassey Ho and Valerie in my mastermind—and how it led to meaningful podcast interviews and deeper connections.

Step 2: Build a System for Follow-Up

Relationship-building shouldn't be random. I walk you through how my team and I use Notion to organize potential podcast guests and collaborators by city, allowing me to make intentional asks when I travel.

This system helped me finally record a long-awaited interview with Cassey Ho in Austin—and it can help you be just as strategic and thoughtful in your own outreach.

Step 3: Personalized, Strategic Outreach

I believe in connecting people, even when it doesn’t benefit me directly. Good begets good.

From following up after events to gifting personalized items based on someone’s love language (shoutout to candles and candy bars!), I show you how thoughtful gestures can deepen professional relationships and set you apart.

This episode isn’t just about building your “network”—it’s about creating real relationships that are rooted in generosity, authenticity, and long-term value.

So whether you want to expand your peer group, connect with someone you admire, or get into new rooms that challenge you to grow… this framework is your starting line.

Grab your coffee (or favorite caffeinated drink), and let’s chat. Because if you’re ready to build a thriving network that doesn’t feel gross or gimmicky… this episode is for you.
